Leanne Cameron is currently Vice President of ICT NSW, the Professional Teachers Association for teachers using technology. Her day job is Lecturer in Design, Digital and Technologies Education in the School of Education at Southern Cross University, Coffs Harbour. She draws heavily on her own experience as a classroom teacher and as a Technology Trainer for the NSW Department of Education’s Training & Development Directorate to deliver practical advice for teachers.

Exploring the ‘thinking’ concepts in the new NSW Technology Curriculum
Target Audience – Primary and Secondary
This session will be suitable for K-10 teachers and begins with a brief overview of the Australian Technologies curriculum and how it relates to the new NSW Science & Technology Syllabus and Technology Mandatory. We will also outline how the ‘T’ and ‘E’ in sTEm and Project-based learning (PBL) are now integral in the curriculum. Finally, we will explore the ‘thinkings’ that are introduced in the curriculum: Computational; Design; Systems; and Critical thinking and how they might be taught.
